I encourage an atmosphere of relaxation and humor and include only those ideas you want in your wedding ceremony. It's your day and it needs to be a direct expression of you. Some of the ceremonies I've performed have been done at restaurants, private homes, hotel pool side, catering halls, etc. I have developed a good experience to help you plan and have a memorable ceremony.
At least one month prior to your wedding day, I recommend you secure the marriage license. You do not have to be a Florida resident, but both of you must be at least 18 years old. There's no waiting period for non-residents of the State of Florida. If one or both of you are Florida residents there is a 3-day waiting period. All U.S. citizens must provide their social security number and a valid ID (like drivers license). Non-citizens may provide a social security number or an Alien Registration Number issued by the Department of Homeland Security. The fee for the marriage license is $93.50 and remains good for 60 days from date of issue. This fee is reduced to $61.00 for Florida residents who have completed a premarital preparation course. For more information go to your County Clerk of the Circuit Court Homepage.
WEATHER: If you are planning an outdoor or beach wedding, keep in mind that from June to November, In Florida, it's hurricane season. I recommend you have an alternate plan, in case mother nature decides to dampen your day.
CEREMONY: The traditional ceremony is the most popular. You will have the opportunity to explore the many different ones I have or you can write your own. I don't include anything religious in these marriage and wedding ceremony suggestions, but I'll be delighted to include anything from your religious tradition at your request.
REHEARSAL: For your peace of mind, I strongly recommend a rehearsal at the site of the wedding, especially if you are going to have a large wedding party which includes children. I have seen children literally run off after noticing so many people staring at them, which can be cute. However, if they have rehearsed and know what is expected of them, it will be even cuter. The length of the rehearsal should not take more than 20-30 minutes, if everyone participating is on time. Please understand and convey to your participants that punctuality is important at the rehearsal and wedding day. Please let me know if you're having a wedding planner, so I can coordinate with them and I will be familiar with the choreography of the ceremony and allow for time and pauses in the ceremony.
